MY Work
Sermons • Articles • Curriculum
Below, you will find links to different speaking, preaching, curriculum development, and writing opportunities I've had across a wide variety of organizations with emphasis in empowering the next generation, biblical and racial justice, Mixed race identity, justice-centered, and collective flourishing orgs.
A Note About My Work...
In everything I do, I value contextualization. I think understanding who your audience is rightfully should impact the way you communicate a message. Whether that's a sermon about an intricate, deep text or even clear expectations to a team you're equipping and leading into a certain project or mission.

I am others-oriented first. I strive to develop those around me, serve them well, & support them well in everything I do. I apply that same ethic to my pedagogical approach in teaching, writing, preaching, and speaking. What you will see below are examples of my work which show my skills and ability in the realms of communication, teaching, curriculum development, & writing all prepared with specific audiences in mind.

Asian Enough
This is one of the articles I contributed to the Asian American Christian Collaborative Reclaim Magazine's series, It's Complicated: Exploring Mixed AAPI Identity. In this article, I got to expand on the nuance of growing up Mixed Vietnamese/White, further nuanced by growing up in the Christian faith. If you keep scrolling, you'll find the link to another article I contributed to this important topic in this particular series.
Be Faithful & Bear Fruit | Mark 4:1-34
As part of Hope's summer series walking through the book of Mark, Katie preached on Mark 4:1-34, covering the Parable of the Sower. She approached this large passage through breaking down the elements in the parable, the meaning of what it means to be faithful, and that the point of any fruit that we bear ultimately isn't for ourselves but for those around us.
We Can Rest Because of Who Jesus Is | Psalm 23:1-4
In the first session of the 2022 Round Rock DNow with Middle & High Schoolers, Katie begins breaking down the text of Psalm 23 verses 1-4 with a focus on how we are led into rest as a natural result of trusting God because Jesus is our Shepherd who provides for & protects us.
We Can Trust God No Matter the Circumstances | Psalm 23:4-6
In the second session of the Rest & Recharge DNow, Katie finishes breaking down the text of Psalm 23 verses 4-6 with a focus on how we can trust God no matter our circumstances. In peace or chaos, feast or famine, green pastures or dark valleys because Jesus prepares a safe place for us & pursues us wherever we go.
Cultural Intelligence and Youth Ministry: Creating Safe Spaces for Questions and Community
I contributed a blog post to Calvin Institute of Christian Worship as part of their series, Imagining Multiple Models of Ministry with Youth, where I shared my reflections on the necessity of cultural intelligence in ministry alongside youth in order to create safe spaces for them to ask questions, wrestle with biblical concepts, and hear perspectives from people different from their own.
HS/MS Small Group Bible Study: God Who Unifies Through Your Mental Health
As part of a series that I created for Middle & High School small group Bible studies about how our God is a God of Unity, I created a curriculum centered on the idea that we have a God who knows how to sit with us in our hurt because he’s been there, but the good news of the Gospel is that He doesn’t leave us there. He invites us into healing & hope through Him.

If you'd like an example of the rest of the sequence of this curriculum, a 7-week series I created on John, or a 3-week Psalms curriculum I created, feel free to contact me.

How is God's Glory Spread Through His Image Bearers? | Psalm 8
For Night of Worship for the HS/MS Youth Ministry I used to lead, I expanded on the idea presented within Psalm 8 that through humans being reduced in size in comparison to God, the significance of the person who's image we bear on this earth through our relationship to him is magnified.
