A poem for you post-election day...

Nobody hangs out on bridges.

Nobody

But

The young couple, pausing

to enjoy the sunset,

Or the child far from home

Remembering walks with their mom

On a bridge

Just

Like

This one,

Or the person considering

An

End

With just

One

More

Step.

Nobody hangs out on bridges much anymore.

Places to be,

People to see

And all that.

But we need them,

Bringing people from different sides

Closer

Even if just for a moment,

In passing.

Nobody hangs out on bridges.

Except

For the one

waiting.
